After reading the above piece, I know she did not know her correct measurements. She stated she worked at Victorias Secret, and they do not know how to give correct fitting's. She said, " my shoulders were perpetually hunched, my back hurt,". -  This is using the bra straps for support, that will make her hunch and her back hurt, also shoulder pain from straps that dig in. In the top photo, her band appears riding up and her bust sloping downward.

Her surgeon told her to look at 'C' cups ( surgeons do not know correct sizing either), getting back to the traditional 'C', 'D', 'DD' mindset.
Had she measured herself and found her true measurement, with a correct fitting, her path might have been a different one.
She would have learned that in the correct fitting bra, no painful straps or a band that rides up and the cups fit. The bra would have felt good to wear and she would have forgotten she was wearing it.
That said if the above piece was about that she did not like her bust size and wanted to reduce, then ok.

If the woman gives a correctly fitting bra a chance first and sees the fit and comfort and still decides she wants a reduction, then enjoy the new bra size.
